The Respiratory Care Practitioner-Sleep performs a variety of sleep studies (polysomnograms) on infants and children. Processes all documentation to provide accurate information to the physician. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of respiratory acute care experience and/or equivalent Respiratory /Sleep experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Polysomnography Program, Respiratory Care or equivalency program (A-Step, etc)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure due to changing priorities, interruptions, and patient care and/or care coordination needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, including conflict resolution and, problem solving skills.
  • Clinical knowledge of multiple pediatric age groups and treatment plans according to sleep disorder disease process.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by capacity to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in interactions with physicians, payers, patients, and their families.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with third party payers to obtain authorization for the appropriate treatment setting for patients requiring medical treatment.
  • Proficient ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines.
  • Proficient skills in Polysmith, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • California Respiratory Care Board license.
  • Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist RPSGT or National Board of Respiratory Care RRT-SDS within one year of hire date.
  • American Heart Association BLS.
  • PEARS or PALS.

Nice To Haves

  • (1) year of Polysomnography/Sleep Medicine experience.
  • Pediatric acute care experience.
