About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner will report to work on time and ready to work in a quiet professional manner, following hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role involves providing quality care as ordered by the patient's physicians and is responsible for the initiation of respiratory protocols and/or the evaluation of protocol steps that include all modalities of therapy. The practitioner serves as a member of the patient care team to assess, develop care plans, evaluate appropriateness of respiratory care modalities, and assist with discharge planning as needed. Additionally, the role includes providing patient and family education related to medications and therapy modalities appropriate to assessed learning skills, participating in monitoring quality of care, and organizing workflow to maintain smooth transition between shifts. The practitioner will assist in the day-to-day operations of the respiratory care services by ensuring neat and accurate documentation, entering charges for patient billing, monitoring and ordering supplies and medications, and performing other duties as assigned. Maintaining current knowledge via hospital and department communication tools, identifying problems, recommending ideas and solutions, demonstrating critical thinking skills, and participating in or providing in-service training are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • One of: CRT or RRT. RRT must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Respiratory Therapist (IN)

Nice To Haves

  • One year in respiratory in a critical care setting
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (National)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (National)
