About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II - Registered is responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care services under physician supervision. This role involves exercising independent clinical judgment, providing both basic and advanced respiratory care, and serving as a technical resource for physicians and hospital staff. The practitioner will work in various hospital settings, including intensive care units, and will be involved in diagnostic testing and patient education.

Requirements

  • At least three years of recent experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • High school diploma or GED required; graduate from an accredited respiratory care education program.
  • California Respiratory Care Practitioner License from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Basic Life Support certification and Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Experience in critical care and neonatal/pediatric respiratory care preferred.
  • Keyboard skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, reviews, obtains, and interprets data related to patient care.
  • Performs diagnostic modalities and interprets results, including ABG sampling and analysis, spirometry, and EKGs.
  • Assembles and checks respiratory care equipment for proper function and cleanliness.
  • Conducts therapeutic procedures to maintain airway patency and adequate ventilation.
  • Monitors patients' physiological responses to therapy and modifies procedures as necessary.
  • Documents all required information in the medical record according to departmental policy.
  • May assist with or perform intubation and other advanced procedures.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement activities and may train other staff.
