About The Position

The Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner (A.R.C.P.) has completed the National Board for Respiratory Care, Registry examination (R.R.T.), and is experienced in both routine and advanced critical respiratory care. Practical knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system is required to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients receiving Respiratory Care. The Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner must demonstrate clinical application and theoretical knowledge consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the profession, in the principles of cardiopulmonary disease and appropriate treatment, over the life span of the patient. The Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) has completed the National Board for Respiratory Care Certification examination and is experienced in both routine and advanced critical respiratory care. Practical knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system is required to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients receiving Respiratory Care. The CRT must demonstrate clinical application and theoretical knowledge consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the profession, in the principles of cardiopulmonary disease and appropriate treatment, over the life span of the patient. The Respiratory Care Staff Technician (S.T.) is currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care educational program and functions in a limited capacity, exclusively within the realm of routine respiratory care. Practical knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system is required to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients receiving respiratory care. The S.T. will function under the clinical supervision and guidance of the shift supervisor or charge therapist. The Respiratory Care Staff Technician must demonstrate beginning and intermediate knowledge of clinical application and theoretical respiratory principles consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the respiratory care profession. The Respiratory Care Staff Technician must be able to assess and interpret basic data about the patient’s health status to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care.

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), as recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (for Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner)
  • Current State Medical Board of Ohio Respiratory Care Professional license (for Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner and Certified Respiratory Therapist)
  • CPR and BLS Certified through the American Heart Association (Certification must be active at time of hire and maintained throughout employment) (for all roles)
  • Shall be in good physical and mental health (for all roles)
  • Shall be able to work all shifts with some rotation (for all roles)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), as recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care required at time of hire (for Respiratory Care Practitioner Certified)
  • Eligible for the National Board for Respiratory Care Certification exam or is enrolled and in good standing in an A.M.A. approved respiratory care program (for Respiratory Care Staff Technician)
  • Current State of Ohio Respiratory Medical Board License: Limited Permit (for Respiratory Care Staff Technician)

Responsibilities
