Occ Summary Perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures asdefined in the RespiratoryCare Services scope of clinical practice,performing work in accordance with physician orders in the neonatal,pediatric and adult patient populations. Work Performed Perform all duties and responsibilities required of a Respiratory CarePractitioner I.Evaluate appropriateness of medicalorders .Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilatormodalities.Profic ient in the application of Non-InvasivePositive Pressure Ventilation (NP PV); Continuous Positive AirwayPressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Air way Pressure(BiPAP)Perform endotracheal intubation under the observation ofa Supervisor or Advanced Practitioner. Performextubations.Serve as me mber of the code/ emergency team.Administer medical gases.Insert nasogas tric and orogastrictubes.Perform tracheotomy tube changes. Perform capno graphymonitoring.Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilationor a irway protection.Interpret clinical data to optimizepatient clinical obj ectives.Participate in clinical rounds withphysicians, nurses and other health care providersAssist withBronchoscopy. Requirements

Completion of a 2 y ear AMA approved respiratory care program(Associates Degree or the equiv alent).
Must maintain annual skillmaintenance requirements
Must maintain a nnual safety/compliancerequirements
Must maintain North Carolina annual l icenserequirements for CEUs
Six months to one year of clinical experience following graduationfrom a respiratory care program.

Registry ( RRT) by theNationalAssociation for Re spiratory Care (NBRC)
Certification in Basic LifeSupport (BLS)
Certificati on in Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS)
Certification in Pediatric Adva nced Life Support(PALS)
Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRPS) if applicableto institution
Knowledge necessary to make appropriate clinical decisions andi nteraction relative to the specific age of a patient.
Skillsvalidation/ce rtification of competencies for the duties andresponsibilities required for a Level I RT.
Skills validation /certifications of competencies for t he duties and responsibilities ofthis level.

Responsibilities

Perform all duties and responsibilities required of a Respiratory CarePractitioner I.
Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders
Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities.
Proficient in the application of Non-InvasivePositive Pressure Ventilation (NP PV); Continuous Positive AirwayPressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Air way Pressure(BiPAP)
Perform endotracheal intubation under the observation ofa Supervisor or Advanced Practitioner.
Perform extubations.
Serve as me mber of the code/ emergency team.
Administer medical gases.
Insert nasogas tric and orogastrictubes.
Perform tracheotomy tube changes.
Perform capno graphymonitoring.
Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilationor a irway protection.
Interpret clinical data to optimizepatient clinical obj ectives.

Assist with Bronchoscopy.
Assist with orientation an d training of Level IIRT.
