About The Position

This is a paid and structured internship for students actively enrolled in a CoARC‑accredited Respiratory Care program at ChristianaCare, one of the Mid Atlantic's largest academic health care providers. The goal is to build real-world inpatient hospital experience while students complete their Respiratory Care education, creating a strong pipeline for a post‑graduation career path. Interns will support the department through equipment and workflow responsibilities. If an intern obtains a Delaware Working Student RCP Permit, they may perform supervised patient care activities within their scope and competency.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a CoARC‑accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • BLS
  • Ability to follow protocols, communicate professionally, and safely handle equipment in clinical areas.

Responsibilities

  • Respiratory equipment processing: clean, assemble, transport, stock, and maintain supplies / equipment.
  • Participate in respiratory education sessions.
  • Learn and follow infection prevention and safety practices.
  • Perform supervised clinical tasks under the direction of licensed Respiratory Therapists (if licensed Student).
