About The Position

Plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates respiratory education for all team members who provide clinical care for patients with respiratory dysfunction. Provides bedside, classroom, and external respiratory education to hospital personnel, students, physicians, and others. Implements and coordinates respiratory-related clinical research. Collects and reports quality metrics related to respiratory care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in respiratory therapy or health-related field.
  • 5 years of experience in advanced respiratory care, in an acute care setting.
  • Knowledge and competence that reflects current respiratory care practice.
  • Ability to identify clinical problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions/quality care interventions.
  • Basic knowledge of evidence-based practice and research strategies.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist NBRC - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • NPS-Neonatal Pediatric Specialist NRBC - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in respiratory therapy or health-related field.
  • 3 years of experience in a respiratory care leadership position.
  • ACCS-Adult Critical Care Specialist NRBC - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a clinical resource providing clinical innovation and expertise regarding complex respiratory clinical issues.
  • Coordinates, plans, implements, and evaluates respiratory care orientation and continuing education programs to enhance the clinical expertise of hospital personnel and to ensure competencies are met and required education/certifications are completed.
  • Participates in all phases of the performance improvement process including respiratory-related quality assurance and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Disseminates continuing education and research findings via oral or written formats to internal and external audiences.
  • Evaluates and implements new technology to provide evidence based practice and improved outcomes for patient care.
  • Develops research projects and acts as a mentor for research scholar students.
