About The Position

The Respirator Fit Tester Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of employees with respirator use in a healthcare setting. This position involves performing fit testing, educating staff on the proper use and maintenance of respirators, and maintaining accurate records in the electronic medical record system. The technician will work collaboratively with team members to meet OSHA compliance goals and enhance the overall safety culture within the organization.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of medical experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers through American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of OSHA compliance and/or respirator fit testing.
• Knowledge of various types of commonly used respirators (e.g., N95, PAPR, elastomeric masks).
• Experience with PortaCount Respiratory Fit Testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform fit testing and related functions system-wide.
• Educate staff on the fit, use, maintenance, and cleaning of approved respirators.
• Ensure accuracy of fit testing records in the electronic medical record.
• Inspect, assemble, and perform daily quality control checks of fit testing equipment.
• Instruct employees on the inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of respirators.
• Prepare masks for distribution to on-site entrances and ambulatory locations.
• Assist with maintenance of fit testing machines and particle generators.
• Collaborate with department managers to ensure annual fit test compliance.
