We are seeking a(an) Resp Therapist Lead Reg for our team to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. The Lead Therapist delivers the care of a patient population of primarily adult and geriatric people who are acutely ill and have medically complex needs, which result in mobility and activities of daily living deficits. The Lead Therapist is a Respiratory Therapist who manages Respiratory Services and serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. The Lead Therapist assesses the needs of the department and is familiar with the pulmonary status of all patients on the department's service. Is a resource for or develops and implements a treatment plan, monitors effectiveness of the treatment plan, and implements needed changes. The Lead Therapist serves as a liaison between the department and the multidisciplinary team. The Lead Therapist and Nursing staff work as a team in association with the patient's physician, the department Medical Director, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to assure timely, safe, and cost-effective therapy is being delivered.

Requirements

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT).
  • Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner (RRT/RCP-State).
  • Vocational School Graduate.

Responsibilities

  • Apply respiratory care modalities and procedures to a group of patients.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of patient care, consult with other disciplines as required and adjust the plan of care as necessary to ensure optimal service.
  • Effectively identify predictable problems and plan assigned tasks as needed.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate activities to facilitate appropriate responses.
  • Communicate the patient's condition and/or change to appropriate staff and/or physician, as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of cardiopulmonary/patient care for a group of patients according to policy and procedure.
  • Respond promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Prioritize and plan all work steps to ensure success; consider time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plan and completing duties.
  • Provide pertinent shift report to other members of the team.
  • Participate and facilitate in the case management process and cost containment for patients.
  • Make appropriate referrals upon admission and throughout hospitalization.
  • Consider all available options and make appropriate decisions.
  • Assist in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies, recovery of patient charges, and conservation of supplies.
  • Assist in the evaluation of patients for appropriate levels of care and communicate with others on health care team.
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding patient's progress and discharge planning needs to appropriate hospital and medical staff.
  • Evaluate patient progress in light of the plan of care and coordinate care to achieve desired outcomes.
