About The Position

This position supports the Pregnancy and Perinatal Research Center (PPRC), a division of the Center for Women's Health and Reproductive Medicine (CWHRM), formerly known as CRRWH. This position is responsible for the management and processing of human biospecimens, including sample banking, documentation, and shipment. The role also includes tracking studies and supplies, maintaining research equipment, and ensuring strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control (QC), and quality assurance (QA) policies in accordance with study protocols and institutional best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry or related discipline and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Applicants must be well-organized and able to flexibly manage diverse responsibilities
  • Applicant must work well as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or exposure to assays such as ELISA are a plus
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule to support time-sensitive sample processing (e.g., placenta and cord blood), which may require work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ideal applicants will be highly motivated, curious, and detail-oriented

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage the PPRC biospecimen repository.
  • Receive, accession, organize, process, store, and ship human biospecimens in accordance with approved SOPs and study protocols.
  • Manage the biospecimen database, including creation and printing of sample labels, scanning, data entry, and maintenance of accurate records.
  • Perform laboratory processing and assays on human samples, including but not limited to ELISA, RNA isolation, protein isolation and concentration, and other assays as required.
  • Coordinate with clinical research teams to facilitate the transport of biospecimens between clinical and laboratory locations.
  • Track studies, laboratory supplies, and research equipment.
  • Maintain inventories, coordinate purchasing activities, assist with budget monitoring, and identify cost-containment opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, regulatory, and study-specific requirements related to human biospecimen handling.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
