The Resource Teacher for High School ELA provides professional development support services in Intermediate/Secondary ELA. The incumbent is responsible for creating a learning environment that supports the needs of the program for student development and assists staff in the development, implementation, facilitation, and assessment of district-wide staff professional development efforts and activities regarding programs for school sites, district, and community groups. The role may involve direct instruction to teachers in best practices, collaboration with District leadership to develop long-range professional development plans, and providing demonstration lessons for teachers, students, and parents. Additionally, the Resource Teacher assesses and evaluates professional development activities, coordinates resources, and serves as a liaison between the program and other District departments. The position also requires maintaining accurate records and reports for regulatory agencies and researching relevant teaching strategies and instructional methods.
