About The Position

The Resource Specialist position at MVCAA is a full-time role focused on providing essential support to low-income families in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties. The specialist acts as a direct link between these families and various services aimed at alleviating the challenges posed by poverty. This role emphasizes a Trauma Informed Care approach and involves advocacy, community outreach, and coordination with other agency programs.

Requirements

• AAS in Human Services or related field OR 3 or more years' experience in related field preferred.
• Possess excellent customer service skills.
• Able to communicate with the public and low-income families and individuals as well as maintain accurate records.
• Basic arithmetic skills.
• Basic computer literacy in email, word processing, database entry, and internet navigation.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy.
• Adheres to agency personnel policies and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of community resources in all counties the agency serves.

Responsibilities

• Provide intake, assessment, facilitate enrollment and other assistance to families requesting services.
• Incorporate a Trauma Informed Care approach to program delivery.
• Advocate for the rights of families experiencing poverty and/or individuals.
• Provide information and referral for services.
• Play a key role in the agency's Centralized intake through a database system.
• Coordinate with other MVCAA programs, making referrals or taking applications for direct services offered by the Agency.
• Conduct outreach and community education programs.
• Attend meetings and participate in trainings, as directed.
• Research rules and regulations relevant to programs and services for families and individuals in poverty.
• Submit written reports and records as required.
• Observe confidentiality according to Head Start Performance Standards and Agency Policy.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Program Manager.
