About The Position

The Resource Sharing Manager is responsible for enhancing access to library materials for local users and statewide libraries within the NC Cardinal consortium. This role involves managing daily operations of the resource sharing department, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring efficient processing of library materials.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One year of public library experience and customer service experience required or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.
  • Must be at least twenty-one years of age to drive a County vehicle.
  • Valid state driver's license with no more than three points on current DMV records.

Responsibilities

  • Manage resource sharing to local library branches and NC Cardinal member libraries by processing incoming and outgoing materials efficiently.
  • Oversee daily operations of the department and coordinate assistance from library staff.
  • Utilize advanced resource sharing techniques to provide exceptional customer service through efficient delivery of materials.
  • Lead planning, prioritizing, and organizing resource sharing in alignment with library goals.
  • Receive and check in materials from statewide libraries, fulfilling internal holds for local branches.
  • Collect, sort, count, and box materials for outgoing shipments to statewide libraries.
  • Resolve material or service problems, clarify user complaints, and expedite corrections or adjustments.
  • Drive library vehicle for daily courier service to local branches and maintain the vehicle.
  • Create and maintain process and procedure documentation related to resource sharing.
  • Prepare, compile, and analyze statistical reports and narrative summaries regarding resource sharing usage.
  • Assist the public in locating materials, performing readers advisory, and providing general reference services.
