About The Position

The Resource Protection Officer position is a full-time, regular role within the Adjutant General's Department of the Kansas Army National Guard. The officer will be responsible for the protection of personnel, buildings, equipment, and grounds by performing validation checks of all personnel entering the complex. The role requires a high degree of alertness to protect against threats such as espionage, sabotage, and theft. The officer will interact with the public and military personnel, requiring well-developed communication skills. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, maintaining security protocols, and responding to incidents. The position requires the ability to work assigned shifts, including the 3rd shift, and to maintain qualifications through training and evaluations.

Requirements

  • Proof of high school graduation or equivalent.
  • Graduate of U.S. Army Military Police 95B School or U.S.A.F Security Forces Academy or equivalent from other states preferred.
  • Ability to carry a weapon and maintain proficiency with duty weapons.
  • Obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Good physical condition to work long hours under difficult conditions.
  • Ability to pass a KBI background check.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to conduct searches of persons and property within jurisdiction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in law enforcement or military security roles.
  • Previous training in first aid or emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Perform 100% validation checks of all personnel entering the complex.
  • Visually check identification cards and issue authorized permits for entry.
  • Conduct physical inspections of vehicles at higher alert levels.
  • Maintain alertness to protect against espionage, sabotage, fire, theft, and pilferage.
  • Interact with the public, military personnel, and governmental officials.
  • Interpret written guidelines and instructions for resolving common problems.
  • Perform mobile patrol duties of the complex grounds.
  • Investigate on-complex vehicle accidents and thefts.
  • Administer first aid as a first responder when necessary.
  • Pass written and oral certification tests for various post assignments.
  • Qualify annually on assigned weapons.
  • Answer telephones and manage radio communications.
  • Perform physical inspections of complex doors to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Write accurate reports on daily activities and incidents.
  • Maintain a clean work environment at the post.
