Requirements

  • Critical Care 2 years (Required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred)
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required)
  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required)
  • Associate of Nursing, nursing (required) OR Diploma in Nursing (required)

  • Bachelors of Science, nursing (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment.
  • Identifies and determines the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care.
  • Coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement in the department as a patient safety advocate.
  • Serves as a clinical expert and role model for nursing staff.
  • Responds to RRTs/Codes and supports RRT team.
  • Assists with complex or high-acuity patient care as needed.
  • Provides guidance on clinical decision-making and best practices.
  • Monitors patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure timely and appropriate placement.
  • Collaborates with charge nurses, managers, and nursing supervisor to resolve throughput challenges.
  • Identifies learning needs and supports staff development.
  • Provides on-the-spot training as needed.
  • Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Assists with regulatory compliance action plans and any other task delegated from nursing leadership.
  • Promotes patient safety through rounding, audits, and timely interventions.
  • Acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Promotes open communication, team collaboration, and a positive work environment.
