About The Position

The Resource Aide position involves assisting teaching staff in a general education classroom, providing support to students with various intellectual and/or physical disabilities. The role includes working closely with individual students based on their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and implementing behavior management techniques to enhance learning and maintain a positive classroom environment.

Requirements

• Any education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.
• Knowledge of educational principles and techniques, student behavior, and characteristics.
• Basic discipline and positive behavior modification techniques.
• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Basic mathematics and current office methods and procedures.
• Common office equipment usage and record keeping techniques.
• Communication skills with the deaf through visual means may be required.

• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of communication and behavioral strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in a variety of instructional activities.
• Provide individual or group assistance to students based on their academic skills and behavioral support needs.
• Act as a liaison between general education teachers and resource teachers.
• Follow behavior plans outlined in students' IEPs.
• Use positive behavior management techniques.
• Assist with lesson assignments and reinforce learning concepts to students.
• Maintain discipline and order in various school settings such as the playground, lunchroom, and library.
• Communicate with special education teachers regarding student concerns and observations.
• Record student progress towards goals and assist in developing instructional materials.
• Participate in district training programs and implement non-violent behavioral intervention procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
