About The Position

As our Cook , you will be responsible for preparing all food items while also cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas. This position may require flexible scheduling availability.

Requirements

  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
  • Food Handling Certification is required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time
  • 6 months of previous restaurant cook experience is desired
  • Demonstrated knowledge of restaurant food preparation and presentation

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors.
  • Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food ordered by restaurant customers using a variety of kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers, meat slicers, food processors, etc.)
  • Perform shift opening/closing duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager, including starting equipment and cleaning of refrigeration units, grill and surrounding area, as well as other kitchen equipment
  • Maintain cooking areas and ensure kitchen equipment and food storage areas are clean, sanitary, and organized as required by the Health Department Rules and Regulations
  • Report any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the Restaurant Manager
  • Restock products as needed throughout the shift
  • Collaborate with Restaurant Manager to determine daily specials, new menu items, and innovative ways to cook and prepare food
  • Regularly check the menu cycle to ensure all food items are available in advance, notifying the Restaurant Manager of any shortages
