Requirements

  • Boating experience required
  • A New York State Joint Pilot and Engineer license must be obtained within 60 days of commencement of employment
  • Joint Pilot & Engineer - This license is for use on smaller vessels, not meeting the criteria for a Master's license that requires only one person for safe operation. The applicant must demonstrate, on a written examination, a general knowledge of small boat handling, engine operation, Rules of the Road, the New York State Navigation Law, the use and maintenance of safety equipment and a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures such as firefighting, man overboard, flooding, etc. The inspector may also require a practical exam.
  • Present valid photo identification (driver's license, passport) and proof of age.
  • Non-U.S. citizens must present proof they are legally in the United States.
  • Present evidence of completing a boating safety course approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA)
  • Applicants must have at least 30 hours of experience operating motorboats of a similar class.
  • Strong event planning and recreational programming skills with an ability to design activities for diverse guest interests.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage guests, staff, and executive management.
  • Proactive, innovative mindset with a strong sense of urgency and awareness of industry trends, with a focus on sustainability.
  • Business acumen to manage activity budgets, scheduling, and logistics efficiently.
  • Community-focused approach, fostering relationships to create a loyal guest following.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement activities that cater to different age groups and interests, ensuring a balance between wellness, adventure, and relaxation.
  • Create seasonal schedules that include boating, water sports, lake swimming, outdoor wellness courses, hiking trails, and special events. Special events to include, but not limited to; Easter, Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving brunches, Broadway at the Lake, Holiday Tree Lighting event, and many more. Work in collaboration with the Hotal Manager organizing and directing weekly special event meetings.
  • Manage activity logistics, including staffing, equipment, transportation, and budgets, to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with local providers to offer unique excursions and sustainable tourism experiences.
  • Oversee and maintain recreational equipment, ensuring all rentals, watercraft, and wellness gear are clean, functional, and safe for guest use.
  • Promote activities through multiple channels by working closely with our Hotel and Marketing Managers to update websites, newsletters, brochures, and social media.
  • Curate group experiences for weddings, reunions, corporate retreats, and wellness getaways; offering specialized events such as yoga retreats, interactive hands-on activities, wine tours, and boat excursions.
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff or contractors to ensure seamless activity execution and exceptional customer service.
  • Engage directly with guests to provide a warm, welcoming environment, fostering repeat visits and positive guest experiences.
  • Ensure safety and compliance by conducting risk assessments, implementing emergency protocols, and upholding professional standards.
  • Represent the resort in marketing and event planning, coordinating special promotions and fostering strong guest relationships.
