About The Position

The Resolution Analyst II plays a key role in our Tax Investigation team by thoroughly analyzing clients' tax documents, IRS transcripts, and financial data to identify issues and develop strategic resolution plans. This position requires strong attention to detail, basic tax knowledge, and the ability to interpret IRS records to uncover tax-saving opportunities and craft tailored plans that align with clients' financial goals. The role supports client success through accurate analysis, clear communication, and collaboration with team members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Additional coursework in accounting, taxation, or related fields preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret IRS Tax Investigation sheets, basic tax knowledge, and IRS Transcripts (e.g., account transcripts, wage & income transcripts).
  • Prior experience in tax preparation, tax resolution, accounting support, or reviewing financial/tax documents preferred (entry-level candidates with strong analytical skills and willingness to learn will be considered).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to exercise self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication, including clear articulation of instructions and information in person and over the telephone; good etiquette and professional demeanor.
  • Computer proficiency in a professional environment: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook for scheduling/email), internet navigation, and basic data entry.
  • Accurate mathematical calculation abilities.
  • Positive, professional interpersonal skills for interfacing with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Effective multi-tasking, prioritization, and time management to meet client needs as the top priority.
  • Good memory retention and knowledge application skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with tax resolution processes, IRS procedures, or tools for transcript analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret tax returns, IRS transcripts, financial statements, and related records to assess clients' tax situations and identify discrepancies or opportunities.
  • Research and identify potential tax optimization, savings, resolution options (e.g., payment plans, offers in compromise, penalty abatement), and compliance solutions based on current tax laws and IRS guidelines.
  • Create comprehensive, client-specific plans incorporating tax-saving strategies, resolution pathways, and alignment with clients' objectives.
  • Work closely with tax professionals, resolution specialists, and other team members to ensure cohesive, high-quality client services and effective case progression.
  • Prepare clear reports, summaries, and explanations of analysis for clients and internal teams; communicate complex tax information effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including supporting case documentation, follow-up on IRS inquiries, and maintaining accurate records.
