The Resiliency Specialist position at the North Kansas City School District is a full-time role within the School Based Integrated Services Program, aimed at fostering a trauma-sensitive and resiliency-based school culture. This program is designed to assist school staff in recognizing and addressing student vulnerabilities related to trauma through various educational and support services. The specialist will work closely with schools to implement trauma-informed practices, providing direct services that include classroom education, support, case management, clinical services, behavior intervention, and faculty coaching. The role requires a strong understanding of trauma-informed care and the dynamics of school settings, along with excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. The specialist will also be responsible for modeling trauma-informed approaches while working with students, families, and school systems, adhering to the policies and philosophies of Synergy Services. The Resiliency Specialist will provide prevention education services within assigned schools, focusing on self-regulation skills and mindfulness practices. They will work with classrooms, small groups, and individuals to develop trauma-informed responses to student vulnerabilities. Essential duties include providing direct client services, such as prevention education and consultation for children, youth, guardians, and staff, as well as crisis management when necessary. The specialist will also coordinate lesson planning with teachers, participate in school implementation teams, and maintain necessary data for compliance with grant-related outcomes. Additionally, the role involves providing professional development and consultation regarding trauma to school staff, ensuring the effective implementation of trauma-informed care in the school environment. The position requires participation in peer supervision and collaboration with program managers to discuss student progress and classroom strategies. The specialist may also supervise intern students and assist in training other employees. The work schedule aligns with the traditional school calendar, with services provided during fall and spring semesters, as well as summer school. The anticipated start date for this position is September 2024, and some evening hours may be required.
