About The Position

The position of Residential Unit Specialist Forensic at the Agency for Persons with Disabilities involves working in a secure forensic facility with individuals who have been adjudicated by the courts as incompetent to proceed to trial and have significant behavioral and psychiatric issues. The role is responsible for the custody, personal care, safety, security, and well-being of these residents. The position requires reporting to DDDP in Chattahoochee, FL, and is not a telework position. The work will impact the workplace culture, community, and the population served by the agency.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds, pull, squat, and stand for extended periods.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to perform duties involving direct contact with residents in a secure forensic facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in the Agency’s Crisis Prevention and Intervention Program.
  • Advanced training may be required.
  • Annual CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and deploy behavioral programs designed for each resident in an appropriate, fair, and impartial manner.
  • Document and file all activities associated with the residents in accordance with Agency protocol.
  • Perform 1:1 Specials in accordance with Agency protocols and ensure timely and accurate documentation.
  • Confer with unit supervisors concerning behavioral problems of residents and assist in planning corrective measures.
  • Cooperate with supervisors to ensure adequate care and training for developmentally disabled residents.
  • Make daily rounds of assigned wards or units for safety and sanitation issues and report findings.
  • Maintain Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification and provide program techniques.
