About The Position

The Residential Treatment Specialist (RTS) at Pioneer Human Services plays a crucial role in supporting justice-involved individuals by providing physical care and implementing individualized treatment plans. This position is integral to the Behavioral Health Division, focusing on delivering quality chemical dependency services and promoting rehabilitation and reintegration into society. The RTS works collaboratively with other staff to create a safe and supportive environment for residents, ensuring their health, hygiene, and overall well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Agency Affiliated Counselor certification within 60 days of hire.
  • First Aid/CPR certification before first independent shift.
  • High level of written/verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet navigation.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of acceptable experience in the human services field.
  • Coursework, experience, or training in human development, chemical dependency, group dynamics, residential treatment or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and explain program and/or unit policy and procedure to each resident as needed.
  • Perform and document daily shift activities as required by program policies, contract stipulations and professional standards.
  • Supervise and monitor resident movement, activity and rule compliance.
  • Assess and respond appropriately to resident behaviors, attitudes and dispositions.
  • Implement and assist in planning structured activities to promote social and independent living skills.
  • Provide written documentation of observations for the resident's Individual Treatment Plan.
  • Assist residents in meeting health and hygiene needs.
  • Provide guidance through the GGI process.
  • Audit and file client files, checking for errors.
  • Clean stations, floors, mail rooms and foyer.
  • Fill clothing requests for clients in need from the clothing bank.
  • Check in visitors during Sunday visitations, searching inventory and observing clients.
  • Assess, evaluate and report internal and external facility conditions for safety, sanitation and security concerns.
  • Observe clients for any abnormal behavior or demeanor.
  • Maintain a healthy environment, including the appearance of the living space for residents.
  • Request maintenance and household supplies as per procedure.
  • Complete intake and discharge procedures for all residents.
  • Conduct program orientations for newly arrived residents.
  • Prepare informational, infraction and incident reports as necessary.
  • Oversee resident family and sponsor visitations.
  • Transport residents to outside activities in accordance with program policies.
  • Drive a 15-passenger van as needed.
  • Arrange weekend bus transportation for discharging clients.
  • Drop off and pick up clients sent to the hospital after hours.
  • Attend and participate in department staff meetings as directed.
  • Conduct client head counts throughout the day and night.
