About The Position

The Residential Support Staff position is a part-time role focused on caring for individuals with disabilities in a residential environment, including activities within the community. The staff member will work 8 hours per week during the 3rd shift, primarily on weekends. The role involves advocating for those served, observing and documenting changes in their physical and mental conditions, administering first aid and simple nursing procedures, and ensuring the privacy and dignity of individuals. Responsibilities also include transporting individuals to community locations, assisting with meal preparation, cleaning, and light maintenance duties, and providing hospitality to visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to document statistics and prepare correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of groups and individuals.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out instructions and policies.
  • Ability to make decisions and reason through situations ensuring the welfare and safety of individuals served.
  • Must possess a valid MI Driver's license.
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record according to MOKA's current vehicle insurance carrier's criteria.
  • Must possess good moral character as defined by the state of Michigan.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Advocates for those served on personal, family, and community levels.
  • Observes and documents changes in the physical and mental condition of those served.
  • Administers first aid and simple nursing procedures as needed.
  • Ensures the privacy and dignity of those served and reports any suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Transports individuals to and from community locations using an agency vehicle or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Administers programs to individuals and documents progress, as prescribed.
  • Assists in meal preparation, cleaning, small home repairs and light residential maintenance duties.
  • Provides hospitality to all visitors at the residence.
  • Explores opportunities for community participation possibilities for those served.
  • Responds to health risks or any hazardous condition(s) and communicates potential health risks or unsafe conditions.
