The Residential Support Staff position involves caring for individuals with disabilities in a residential environment, including facilitating activities within the community. This part-time role requires working 8 hours per week during the second shift on weekends. The staff member will advocate for those served on personal, family, and community levels, observe and document changes in their physical and mental conditions, and administer first aid and simple nursing procedures as needed. Ensuring the privacy and dignity of individuals served is paramount, along with reporting any suspected abuse or neglect. The role also includes transporting individuals to community locations, administering programs, assisting with meal preparation, cleaning, and light maintenance duties, and providing hospitality to visitors. The staff member will explore opportunities for community participation for those served and respond to health risks or hazardous conditions as necessary.

  • Advocate for individuals served on personal, family, and community levels.

  • Transport individuals to and from community locations using an agency vehicle or personal vehicle as needed.

  • Assist in meal preparation, cleaning, and light residential maintenance duties.
  • Provide hospitality to all visitors at the residence.
  • Explore opportunities for community participation for individuals served.
  • Respond to health risks or hazardous conditions and communicate potential risks.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to document statistics and prepare correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of groups and individuals.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out instructions and policies.
  • Ability to make decisions ensuring the welfare and safety of individuals served.
  • Valid MI Driver's license.
  • Acceptable driving record according to MOKA's vehicle insurance criteria.
  • Good moral character as defined by the state of Michigan.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
