About The Position

Virginia Union University (VUU) seeks a highly motivated and student-centered Residential Supervisor/ Tutoring Coordinator to oversee residential life operations while coordinating academic tutoring and support services for the Upward Bound Program. This dual-role position ensures a safe, supportive, and inclusive living-learning environment that fosters student engagement, retention, and academic success. The successful candidate will provide leadership in residence hall management, supervise student staff, and coordinate tutoring programs that enhance student learning outcomes across disciplines for Upward Bound participants.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in residential life, student success, or academic support services.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Resident Assistants (RAs) and other student staff in the Upward Bound residential program.
  • Enforce university housing policies, manage conduct cases, and promote a positive residential community.
  • Collaborate with Campus Safety, Facilities, and Counseling Services to address student needs and concerns.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student tutors in multiple subject areas.
  • Coordinate tutoring schedules, track student usage, and assess program effectiveness.
  • Partner with faculty and academic departments to identify areas of need and align tutoring with curriculum goals.
  • Serve as a primary resource for Upward Bound residential students seeking academic, personal, or social support.
  • Connect students to campus resources including advising, counseling, and career services.
  • Maintain accurate records of residential operations, tutoring participation, and student outcomes.
