About The Position

The Residential Services Supervisor at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) serves as a working supervisor for the Residential Care Program. This role involves coordinating and integrating the residential program with other school activities, providing counseling and disciplinary control, and ensuring maintenance and housekeeping standards are upheld in the residential units. The supervisor is responsible for planning and conducting training sessions, maintaining records, and serving as a mandated reporter under the Child Abuse and Neglect Act.

Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree in health and human services fields.
  • Two years of direct care experience in a mental health/rehabilitation residential care setting or supervisory experience in the same field.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of professional supervisory experience in assigning work and providing guidance to subordinates.
  • Two years of experience in effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Two years of experience maintaining effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • One year of experience in identifying staff training needs and conducting training sessions.
  • One year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Skyward.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a working supervisor for the Residential Care Program.
  • Plan and conduct weekly unit meetings and individual conferences.
  • Assist in the development and updates of the Residential Care Worker Handbook and student manuals.
  • Verify appropriate shift coverage and enforce maintenance and housekeeping standards in residential units.
  • Compile and maintain records and case notes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
