The Residential Security Technician will provide professional installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of security and smart home systems, including intrusion alarms, surveillance cameras, access control, and automation components. This role is crucial to delivering a seamless and secure experience to clients. Requirements

  • Experience with smart home or home automation platforms (e.g., Alarm.com, Control4, Savant, Lutron, Nest, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, networking basics, and mobile app configuration.
  • Comfortable with hand tools, ladders, cable routing, and power equipment.
  • Willing and able to perform retro (cabling) work as needed.
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to quality, detail, and safety on every job.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications a plus (ESA, NICET, OSHA-10/30, manufacturer training)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience installing or servicing security systems (alarm, CCTV, access control)
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in tight spaces and at ladder heights.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (hot, cold, outdoor).

Responsibilities

  • Completes installations, service calls, and inspections on time and according to company standards.
  • Ensures all work is documented accurately, including system configuration, programming notes, and service logs.
  • Adheres to all safety standards, electrical codes, and security regulations during fieldwork.
  • Works closely with team members, project managers, and clients to ensure smooth installations and service visits.
  • Supports team coordination on large-scale projects and cross-trade integration.
  • Communicates clearly with internal staff and end users to ensure expectations are aligned and met.
  • Identifies potential installation challenges before they impact timelines or quality.
  • Keeps systems and tools organized and ready, anticipating parts or programming needs in advance.
  • Reports recurring technical issues or process inefficiencies and suggest solutions.
  • Stays current on evolving technologies in security, automation, and networking.
  • Asks thoughtful questions during training or on-site to better understand system performance.
  • Goes the extra mile to ensure every system is tested thoroughly and functioning flawlessly.
  • Shows commitment to helping clients feel confident, safe, and supported in their smart environments.
  • Solves technical and installation challenges with innovative thinking and precision.
  • Designs neat and efficient cable routes, panel layouts, and device placements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
