Unarmed Security Officer, Rhode Island (Overnight-Providence)
About The Position

We are seeking dependable and professional Residential Security Officers to support an affordable housing community in Providence, RI. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, calm, and respectful environment for residents, visitors, and property staff. Officers must demonstrate strong communication skills, patience, sound judgment, and the ability to de-escalate situations appropriately.
Requirements
- Security Experience (1-year preferred minimum)
- Professional & Presentable presence to public
- Effective & Pleasant communication skills
- Clean BCI (State & national)
- Reliable means of transportation / vehicle
- Responsible & consistent work ethic
- Technical (Internet / Smartphone Usage)
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine patrols of building interiors, common areas, entrances, and surrounding property
- Monitor access points to help prevent unauthorized entry and loitering
- Maintain a visible, approachable security presence for residents and staff
- Respond calmly and professionally to disturbances, safety concerns, and resident requests
- Observe, document, and report incidents, safety hazards, and policy violations
- Complete accurate daily activity and incident reports
- Assist residents and visitors with directions and general safety support
- Enforce property rules respectfully and consistently
- Coordinate with supervisors, property management, and emergency services when necessary
- Secure client location(s)
- Report incidents (realtime)
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Answer telephone calls when on-call and report efficiently.
- Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Patrol industrial or commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
