About The Position

The Residential Security Assistant at Bowling Green AP plays a crucial role in the supervision and rehabilitation of individuals released from prison. This position involves working closely with vulnerable populations in a residential setting, ensuring compliance with established rules and procedures while promoting a safe and supportive environment. The role requires effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to manage various responsibilities related to resident care and safety.

Requirements

• Understanding of good Health and Safety practice
• Understanding of good anti-discriminatory practice
• 1st Aid Trained
• Good English oral & written communication skills
• Strong administration and IT skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to prioritize workload and manage time effectively

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of residents in accordance with policy and practice under the direction of managers.
• Staff and supervise the approved premises during designated shifts, referring serious incidents to the on-call manager.
• Ensure enforcement of approved premises rules and address any breaches appropriately.
• Demonstrate pro-social modelling skills by reinforcing positive behaviour and challenging anti-social behaviour.
• Liaise with key workers and management to share issues concerning residents.
• Process information and maintain records, including inputting significant occurrences into the database.
• Contribute to the work with substance misusers, including dispensing medication as needed.
• Monitor and record residents' movements in and out of the building.
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and productive work environment, including health and safety checks.
• Report maintenance or security issues as per procedures.
• Conduct curfew checks, wellbeing checks, fire alarm tests, and room searches.
• Maintain an active presence in the AP and engage with residents in a pro-social manner.
• Support the arrangement and delivery of purposeful activities for residents.
