The Residential Regional Director is responsible for developing, organizing, and leading residential programs serving people with disabilities that promote learning and a positive self-image all in accordance with Racker’s vision and mission. The Residential Regional Director provides strategic and operational leadership for residential programs serving people with disabilities, using sound judgment and compassionate decision-making to ensure safe, ethical, and person-centered supports. This role advocates for the needs, dignity, and rights of individuals and families while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Through a systems-thinking approach, the Director integrates operations, clinical services, and staffing practices to promote consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across programs. The position relies on strong collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, supervisors, and organizational leaders to foster shared responsibility, effective problem-solving, and high-quality outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience at Racker; valid New York State Driver’s License meeting Racker’s Approved Driver criteria; QIDP qualifications preferred.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in at least one of the following areas: supervision/management, residential programs, special education, child development, social work. An equivalent combination of education experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated ability in administration and personnel supervision; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills. Ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Ability to lift/assist in the transfer of others, with the ability to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds; ability to engage in repetitive movements such as sitting/kneeling on floor, bending and stooping; ability to move quickly to attend to pressing needs; ability to repeatedly use a wide range of movement while physically assisting others.

Responsibilities

• Operational Oversight
• Responsible for the operational oversight of an assigned area of residential homes
• Assure that the program complies with relevant laws, rules and OPWDD regulations
• Conduct regular on-site visits and operational reviews to verify implementation of required practices.
• Implement and endorse organizational and program goals
• Delegate, re-distribute and oversee tasks among the area Team Director (House Manager) team in the event of vacancies
• Ensure incident reporting and follow-up actions are completed accurately and timely.
• Manage program budget
• Provide reports as assigned
• Leadership and Supervision
• Directly supervise, train, coach and evaluate Team Directors to ensure effective management of staffing, documentation, household operations and individual supports
• Provide guidance and support to Team Director in managing staff performance, addressing concerns and maintaining program standards.
• Set clear and consistent expectations for follow-through, communication and problem resolution according to organizational policy and procedures
• Identify skill gaps and training needs--coordinate corrective training and support.
• Promote a culture of accountability, follow-through, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure focus on person-centered and family-centered supports
• Oversee the hiring of Team Directors and DSPS
• Promote, support, and sustain an ethical culture by setting clear expectations, modeling ethical decision-making, addressing concerns promptly, and reinforcing a workplace grounded in respect, dignity, and person-centered values.
• Coordination of Interdisciplinary Team
• Facilitate regular area meetings of Team Directors, nurses and behavior specialists
• Ensure action items from interdisciplinary team meetings are implemented, tracked and completed
• Coordinate operational alignment between Team Directors, nurses and behavior specialists
• Facilitate case reviews and monitor implementation of case review recommendations
• Facilitate clear, consistent communication among Team Directors and clinical staff.
• Other responsibilities
• Participate in the Director on Call rotation
• Develop and facilitate trainings
• Implement and monitor processes throughout the program as assigned
• Provide coverage for other regional director vacancies
• Uphold standards of professionalism with regard to behavior and dress
• Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
