Residential Recovery Coach
About The Position
Since 1967, Odyssey House has been providing innovative services and programs to a broad population of individuals and families struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. Odyssey House helps New Yorkers of all ages—and across all five boroughs—beat drugs and alcohol with highly individualized treatment programs. Odyssey House provides high quality, holistic treatment impacting all major life spheres, including: psychological, physical, social, family, educational and spiritual in order to support personal rehabilitation, renewal and family restoration. The Residential Recovery Coach is responsible for providing recovery support services to consumers participating in an OASAS Residential Treatment Program. The Residential Recovery Coach documents all provided services in a manner that is compliant with regulatory and funding agents. The Residential Recovery Coach delivers services to the participants on-site and in the community.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required,
- Ability to deliver culturally competent services to a diverse consumer population.
- Ability to share Life Experience in a manner appropriate to the consumers served.
- A minimum of six months of community-based recovery with at least six consecutive months of abstinence at the time of enrollment.
- Good interpersonal skills, enthusiastic about recovery.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) certification (able to obtain within six months of hire).
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the ethical framework for delivery of recovery services and conducts all recovery coaching activities within this framework.
- Document all CRPA services in accordance with state and managed care regulations.
- Provide guidance, support and recovery coaching for participants in accordance with Treatment Plan and engages in recovery activities and support services.
- Provide advocacy, outreach, empowerment, transitional, pre-crisis and crisis supports activities on-site and in the community.
- Facilitate recovery-related services including Morning Meeting, Afternoon Seminar and Evening Meeting.
- Escort clients to and from appointments in community as needed.
- Organize pro-social activities and events.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Attend all required in-service training seminars.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Other relevant duties as required.
