About The Position

The Residential Peer Support & Safety Specialist provides a hybrid set of peer support, skill-building, and residential safety services to support adults with mental health and/or substance use disorders in a community-based residential program. This position integrates peer support principles, therapeutic skill-building, residential safety, and environmental monitoring to ensure client wellness, recovery, stability, and facility safety. The role includes a minimum of 5 hours per week of billable service delivery and documentation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must meet Paraprofessional / Associate Professional requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • NC Certified Peer Support Specialist preferred or required depending on program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structured peer support services including wellness self-management, coping skills, natural supports, and independent living skills.
  • Use personal recovery experience (if applicable) to model hope and self-directed recovery.
  • Teach functional skills such as medication management, communication, budgeting, and daily living.
  • Provide linkage and coordination with community resources.
  • Support clients in developing WRAP, crisis plans, and relapse-prevention strategies.
  • Monitor the residential environment for safety concerns and compliance with facility rules.
  • Conduct routine safety rounds, access control, and environmental checks.
  • Respond to behavioral, medical, or safety incidents using approved crisis intervention techniques.
  • Assist clients with housekeeping, meal prep, community outings, and appointments.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation of billable services within 24 hours.
