About The Position

LSS seeks Residential Counselors and Residential Workers who have a passion for working with justice involved youth. Requirements

  • Residential Worker: Must have a High School Diploma, or GED.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
  • Residential Counselor: Hold a bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences (preferred), OR Have completed at least 60 semester credits and have one year of experience working with children, OR Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.

Nice To Haves

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care and reception center.
  • Provide direct client care
  • Maintain/model appropriate boundaries
  • Teach applicable coping and problem-solving skills.
  • Complete reports and documentation as necessary.
  • Successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
