About The Position

LSS Alternatives to Detention seeks Residential Counselors and Residential Workers who have a passion for working with justice involved youth. If you are patient, empathetic, and enjoy a fast-paced work environment where two days are never the same, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements

• Must have a High School Diploma, or GED for Residential Worker.
• Experience working with children.
• Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status for both positions.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences (preferred) for Residential Counselor, OR have completed at least 60 semester credits and have one year of experience working with children, OR possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care and reception center.
• Provide direct client care and maintain/model appropriate boundaries.
• Teach applicable coping and problem-solving skills.
• Complete reports and documentation as necessary.
• Successfully complete all agency background checks.
