About The Position

The Residential Mortgage Community Loan Originator at Bank OZK is responsible for sourcing business from external sources, particularly in minority-majority areas and low to moderate-income communities. The role focuses on educating potential borrowers about mortgage options, building partnerships with real estate professionals and housing agencies, and facilitating access to down payment assistance programs. The Loan Originator will also manage the loan application process and ensure compliance with lending guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience required.
  • 2+ years' residential mortgage experience required.
  • Knowledge of lending criteria, systems, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and bank secrecy.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience working in Encompass preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strong presence within minority-majority and low to moderate-income communities.
  • Establish trust and rapport with residents by participating in community events and outreach programs.
  • Identify and maintain relationships with local realtors, housing agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on down payment assistance programs and bond loans.
  • Complete and submit activity summary reports to the sales manager weekly.
  • Accurately complete and deliver initial disclosures.
  • Counsel customers to identify mortgage loan needs and options.
  • Assist in the processing and closing of loans professionally and profitably.
  • Take complete, accurate, and compliant loan applications.
  • Order credit reports and resolve discrepancies.
  • Input loan information into computer systems.
  • Utilize Automated Underwriting Systems for loan decisioning.
  • Order appraisals and analyze property appraisals for compliance.
  • Cross-sell other Bank products to customers.
  • Proactively communicate loan status and progress to customers.
  • Travel on Bank business as required.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in job functions.
  • Maintain good punctuality and attendance to work.
