About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Monitor/Security Supervisor and Program Manager, the Residential Monitor and Security will maintain a secure facility and monitor activities in surrounding neighborhoods. They will assist with the day-to-day operations and ensure the safety and comfort of clients, employees, volunteers, and visitors. The Residential Monitor and Security will work collaboratively with residents, staff, providers, and guests to de-escalate confrontations and create opportunities and enhancements to the shelter.

Requirements

  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to follow policies and procedures established in the Company's Employee Handbook.
  • Candidates will also contribute to a positive work environment by behaving and communicating to get along with all constituent groups, co-workers, and management.
  • High School diploma or GED and a minimum of a combined one (1) year of lived experience and one (1) year of practical job experience preferred
  • One (1) year's experience working with vulnerable populations, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in person and over the phone, required.
  • Understanding confidentiality protocols and protecting personal information is required.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, required.
  • Effectively problem-solve and maintain composure in high-pressure situations, required.
  • Act as liaison with partner agencies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision required.
  • Knowledge of all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid, and NARCAN certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, preferred.
  • Experience with theory, principles, and practices of homeless housing interventions, social services, case management, eviction prevention, shelter diversion, and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of used practices and principals, including Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care, Conflict Resolution, Motivational Interviewing, Low Barrier Operations, and Prevention and Diversion, preferred.
  • Bilingual speakers of any language preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of all standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess participant needs at admission and exit of the program.
  • Assist residents with requests/needs, including accessing supplies, clothing, food, etc.
  • Support family stabilization.
  • Document and report incidents and daily activities as instructed.
  • Assist clients with special needs as needed.
  • Collaborate with outside partner agencies.
  • Make appropriate referrals to available resources and services.
  • Ensure all participants and visitors are checking in and out of the facility.
  • Document in the daily log during each shift.
  • Provide security and safety both onsite and in the neighboring communities.
  • Work collaboratively with the PD and HOT/PERT teams.
  • Document and report incidents and daily activities as instructed.
  • Conduct fire and safety checks regularly.
  • Mandated Reporting.
  • Maintain a secure and safe environment for all participants.
  • Resolve conflicts among participants professionally and efficiently.
  • Janitorial and laundry services.
  • Serve meals and provide food pantry support.
  • Assist with family/youth enrichment events.
  • Communicate and adhere to program and shelter policies and procedures and model professional rapport with all staff, clients, and partners in accordance with the Operations Manual.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all participants.
  • Interact and work cooperatively with participants, service providers, and staff members.
