Summary: The Recreation Manager is responsible for directing recreation and community advocacy efforts within Bridgewell and developing a culture throughout all business segments that embraces recreation as a form of therapy, community inclusion, engagement, personal growth, and individual achievement. Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (40 Hours)

Requirements

  • A Hig h School Diploma/GED is .
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities and other life challenges is .
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster positive relationships with community resources.
  • Experience in coordinating and leading events.
  • Excellent collaboration, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • The physical demands of staff working in programs assisting people with their care needs are varied and require the employee to be able to maneuver people of varying weights and provide lifting, balance support, and physical intervention in a few scenarios. Described below are essential requirements of staff to ensure the safety of employees and persons served alike. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions; however, approval will be based on the needs of the persons served and consideration of safety factors related to any program or position within a program. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to climb stairs, physically assist persons served, often weighing more than 200 pounds with movement, get into and out of wheelchairs or handle assists that include physical, behavioral, and medical interventions. The employee must be able to drive a vehicle and/or a van. Must have a normal range of eyesight with or without corrective lenses. Must have a normal range of hearing with or without corrective equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic direction to Bridgewell Management to ensure recreation, community inclusion, and advocacy supports are achieved for people in all Bridgewell services.
  • Develops a robust monthly recreation calendar and leads recreation opportunities that target the diverse interests and skill levels of people served across all Bridgewell programs.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships between staff, individuals served, and community recreation partners.
  • Maintains the Recreation Program budget including compliance with fund management procedures for recreation events.
  • Oversees the Special Olympics Program for Bridgewell, ensuring participation, staff support, and planning for this event.
  • Develops and maintains program involvement in local and state-level advocacy efforts, ensuring Bridgewell is represented at events and our collective voice is heard.
  • Develops a volunteer base to carry out the planned activities of Bridgewell, maintaining compliance with CARF and state/federal regulations concerning volunteers. This includes documentation of volunteer work hours and reporting to program management and human resources. Ensures orientation of volunteers to Bridgewell culture and role.
  • Conducts Annual Recreation Survey with agency programs and representatives (i.e. family) of other community individuals supported.
  • Builds community opportunities for people to participate in events.
  • Works with marketing on the promotion of events and successes. Solicits their support in developing marketing materials and newsletters to promote efforts.
  • Maintains a flexible schedule to lead recreation opportunities during weekdays, evenings, and on weekends.
  • Supports, respects, and promotes an environment that fosters Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging for all employees and people in our services.
  • Remains in compliance with all annual mandatory training and certifications (such as First/Aid CPR, PABC, etc.)
