About The Position

The House Manager I position involves managing and implementing all aspects of residential care as directed by the Residential Program Coordinator. The work schedule consists of one week on duty and one week off duty. The House Manager is responsible for the residents in the home and during activities 24 hours a day, except for scheduled time off. This role includes assisting in implementing active care plans, completing necessary documentation, and maintaining communication with the Residential Program Coordinator and other staff members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferably two or three years’ experience operating a household or providing direct care.
  • Must maintain current Alabama driver’s license.
  • Must obtain MAC, CPR, First Aid, and CPI certification.
  • Must successfully pass criminal history record check and TB screening.

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of residential care regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for residents in the home and during activities 24 hours a day, except for scheduled time off.
  • Works as scheduled by Residential Program Coordinator to maintain efficient, quality care.
  • Assists in implementing active care plans for each resident as directed.
  • Completes documentation for CFAs, PCPs or BSPs, and prepares reports as required by licensing and certifying agencies.
  • Demonstrates and/or assists residents in daily self-care practices to aid independence and foster self-esteem.
  • Converses with residents to reinforce positive behaviors and promote social interaction.
  • Supervises preparation, cooking, and serving of quality, nutritional meals according to pre-approved menus.
  • Works closely with the Auxiliary Services Coordinator to help plan outside community activities and coordinate transportation.
  • Responsible for transporting residents to all scheduled activities and appointments as necessary.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of the home to provide pleasant living conditions.
  • Responds to emergencies and administers First Aid, CPR, and/or CPI as needed.
  • Monitors and assists residents in self-administration of medicines.
  • Documents all visits with relatives and other contacts made by residents.
  • Consults with the Residential Program Coordinator regarding any complaints or incidents.
  • Participates in appropriate Residential Program and ROI meetings as requested.
