About The Position

Koontz Bryant Johnson Williams (KBJW) is seeking a part time Residential Field Inspector in the Staunton, VA/ Shenandoah Valley area. The primary function of a Residential Field Inspector is to make site visits as scheduled by our office and make on-site field observations throughout multiple phases of construction. The Residential Field Inspector will submit complete and accurate inspection reports, field observation notes, and photos to our office staff on an as needed basis for processing. On-site & In-house Training is Provided.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience preferred
  • Understanding of residential construction preferred
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be willing to take on short notice assignments with a 60-mile radius
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk and manipulate (carry, lift, move) light to medium weights up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to walk construction sites and climb ladders as necessary.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate technical equipment, read technical information.
  • Travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related errands or to attend meetings may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect footings, foundations, retaining walls, slabs and other construction components as needed.
  • Document field conditions, take photographs and prepare field reports
  • Work closely with Group Manager and Scheduling Coordinator to ensure project completion within schedule and budget along with client satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results and observations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and local regulations
  • Communicate onsite with subcontractors and contractors
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
