About The Position

The Residential Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on designated routes to collect garbage, yard waste, or recycling. This role involves overseeing helpers, performing vehicle inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state of employment.
• Requires a clean driving record.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Understanding of refuse collection policies and Department of Transportation requirements.
• Ability to hear and see in normal ranges with or without correction.
• Exhibit normal range of body motion and manipulate heavy equipment control levers.
• Ability to follow designated refuse collection routes and work schedules.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive truck on pre-established routes according to Decision Driving principles.
• Collect and dump garbage and refuse into trucks while covering designated residential routes.
• Unload refuse trucks at landfills or transfer stations.
• Provide courteous and efficient customer service during refuse operations.
• Ensure proper collection and transfer of garbage and recyclables, including tagging improper containers.
• Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicle as per Waste Pro procedures and D.O.T. guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck and perform weekly exterior washes.
• Perform manual duties in cleaning up scattered refuse and emptying large trash bins using truck hydraulics.
• Prepare and submit required company and regulatory reports and documents.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation and State requirements for commercial vehicle operators.
