Residential Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Elmcrest Children’s Center has immediate openings for a full-time Residential Direct Service Professional (DSP). The Residential DSP will provide Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment services (CPST) under CFTSS to youth placed in Residential Programs. The Residential DSP will provide services to youth in a variety of community-based settings. CPST consists of: Intensive Interventions (Counseling), Crisis Avoidance (Counseling), Intermediate Term Crisis Management (Counseling), Rehabilitative Psychoeducation, Strengths Based Service Planning, and Rehabilitative Supports. Under NYS’s Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS), you will be responsible for supporting individuals with mental health needs to pursue individualized goals in a variety of services. Among the provider’s responsibilities are:
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience OR A Master’s degree and 1 year of experience
- Flexibility in scheduling including evening and/or weekend hours.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Excellent communication skills, including: oral, listening, written, and inter-personal.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Self-confidence and an ability to work with children and young adults with a variety of needs.
- Exceptional customer service and collaboration skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook. Knowledge of EHRs is preferred.
- Compliance with required background checks, including fingerprinting and drug testing.
- Successful completion of all mandatory training.
Nice To Haves
- Preference given to candidates with experience working with: children’s mental health, addiction, foster care/child welfare/juvenile justice, children with medical/health needs, or children with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in creating a safe and secure environment

- Contributing ideas for improving the experiences of individuals in the program, including planning appropriate activities
- Being flexible around the needs of the child and/or family
- Completing daily documentation of services provided
- Working collaboratively with family members and other professionals involved in the individual’s care
- Maintaining compliance with all required training
