About The Position

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, you’ll help individuals live their best lives—whether that means mastering a new recipe, exploring the neighborhood, learning new skills, and investing in their success. You’ll be more than a caregiver—you’ll be a cheerleader, life coach, advocate, and a valued member of a caring, supportive community.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
A valid NYS driver’s license (most programs require it)
Willingness to complete and become certified in: AMAP (meds), CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R (crisis management)
A big heart, clear communication skills, and a can-do attitude!

Nice To Haves

1+ year working with people with developmental disabilities
Experience in residential or health-related settings
Strong teamwork and documentation skills

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on support for daily living, including helping with : meals, dressing, and personal care.
Teach important life skills such as cooking, shopping, and other household tasks.
Administer medication, assist with health routines (paid training included!)
Accompany individuals to medical appointments,
Encourage social connections, community engagement, and participation in fun activities.
Document your work and communicate regularly with your team
Handle challenges with respect, sensitivity, patience
