Residential Counselors are responsible for working closely with young adult (ages 18-24) clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site, to provide life skills support to individuals who are staying at the shelter. This position also provides oversight of site operations, which includes enforcing safety measures, program rules, and expectations using a trauma-informed and client centered approach. Other responsibilities include: assisting with screening, intake activities and orientation of new clients into the shelter program; providing guidance and information to clients regarding the daily activity schedule, house rules and policies; overseeing security and safety; completing housekeeping duties; ensuring daily chores are completed, and providing emergency crisis management to individuals.
