About The Position

The Residential Counselor at WellSpan Philhaven in Lancaster, PA provides structure and support for LADV residents within program guidelines. This part-time position requires working 16 hours every two weeks, specifically every other weekend from 3-11pm. The counselor exercises leadership during shifts for specific LADV programs, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents while implementing treatment plans tailored to individual needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Human Services or Nursing experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence.

Nice To Haves

• College coursework related to nursing or human services preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in providing structure and support in a 'home-like' atmosphere.
• Ability to learn and implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care for LADV residents under the guidance of Treatment Plans, including teaching and supervising daily living skills.
• Supervises off-site activities and encourages resident involvement.
• Intervenes to promote milieu safety and security in a manner consistent with ethical and legal guidelines.
• Implements treatment interventions for specific residents according to individualized needs and service plan guidelines.
• Completes progress notes, shift summaries, and other essential documentation in a timely and descriptive manner.
• Provides guidance to other RC staff and assists program leadership in implementing programming.
• Oversees functioning of RC staff, including role modeling positive staff/resident contacts and monitoring behavioral interventions.
• Implements safety and resident supervision guidelines according to established procedures.
• Provides medication assistance to residents.
• Plans and runs therapeutic and recreational activities and groups.
