About The Position

The Residential Coordinator provides essential 24 hour awake coverage and supervision of a 50 bed single adult shelter. This role serves as the first point of contact for client needs and support. The Residential Coordinator is responsible for crisis intervention, facilities monitoring, front desk operations, and maintaining a safe and positive living environment. This position ensures the safety of shelter residents and Shelter House property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two or more years of experience in the human services field such as mental health, substance use, homelessness, or domestic violence
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and team members
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Experience working in programs serving individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Experience working in a residential environment
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe operation of the shelter and maintain a secure environment for clients
  • Monitor visitor check in, front desk activity, and incoming calls
  • Conduct routine rounds inside and outside the building
  • Maintain the daily log by documenting client interactions and significant events
  • Collaborate with case managers to support client service plans and communicate progress updates
  • Complete thorough shift exchanges with incoming and outgoing staff
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with agency standards
  • Assess and provide for clients’ basic needs during shift, including distribution of household and hygiene items
  • Perform light residential cleaning and wash shelter linens
  • Organize and restock supplies, toiletries, linens, towels, and donations
  • Conduct unit inspections
  • Maintain client dignity and confidentiality at all times
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies including evacuations, health incidents, and safety concerns
  • Accept donations and support volunteer activities within the shelter
  • Participate in staff meetings and required trainings
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications including email, calendar, and document management
  • Report to work as scheduled, including during inclement weather or emergencies

  • Perform other duties as needed to support program operations
