About The Position

The position involves resolving community-related issues such as roommate conflicts and ensuring community respect through the use of interpersonal, fact-gathering, and analytical skills. The role requires reviewing daily reports for clarity and policy interpretation, adjudicating conduct violations, maintaining confidential conduct records, and ensuring student rights are upheld throughout various processes. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities in community administration, development, and department administration, requiring effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of personal and social problems encountered by college students.
  • Working knowledge of group dynamics and needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students.
  • Experience coordinating or directing college-level group activities for two years, including one year directing a dormitory complex.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education or related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with college-aged students.
  • At least one year of experience supervising student leaders or assistants.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform administrative tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and carry-out successful programming for a residential community.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve community related issues utilizing interpersonal, fact gathering, and analytical skills.
  • Review reports daily for clarity, policy interpretation, and response.
  • Adjudicate conduct violations and implement disciplinary sanctions.
  • Maintain confidential conduct records as defined by FERPA, Clery, Title IX, and Cal State Executive orders.
  • Ensure student rights and voices are upheld in review and investigation processes.
  • Consult with Area Coordinator or department leadership regarding student behavior and health issues.
  • Schedule and establish office hours for team coaching.
  • Oversee daily building administration and operations.
  • Maintain appropriate records and administrative files.
  • Negotiate room changes during the academic year and notify personnel of changes.
  • Respond to emails, phone calls, and parent/faculty concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain financial records and budgets for designated community.
