About The Position

The Residential Childcare Specialist position at the County of San Diego involves providing care and assessment for children in protective custody at the Polinsky Children's Center, a 24-hour emergency shelter. Specialists work with children of various ages, particularly those under six, and must be flexible to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of children who are temporarily separated from their families.

Requirements

• Completion of twelve (12) units from an accredited U.S. college or university in child development or early childhood education, including specific coursework in the care of infants and abused children.
• One (1) year of experience as a Residential Care Worker I with the County of San Diego, or two (2) years of experience providing care in a licensed facility.
• Experience as a school teacher instructing children or teens is considered qualifying.
