POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervison of the Program Director, the Shift Leader assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the orientation experience and skill obtainment of the RCS staff in relation to maintaining the therapeutic program on an as needed basis. Shift Leader will also carry direct patient care assignment to facilitate awareness of program functioning.

Requirements

  • If High School dimploma, must have 4 years experience in child care institution.
  • Attains minimum of two years of college and 3 years in child care institution, Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience in child care institution, preferred.
  • Experience on an inpatient psychiatric/or Residential Treatment Program setting for two years, preferred.
  • At least an 18 month experience in RCS role or position commensurate to RCS role, required.
  • Provision of satisfactory motor vehicle operation report, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience in child care institution, preferred.
  • Experience on an inpatient psychiatric/or Residential Treatment Program setting for two years, preferred.
  • Experience in treating Inpulse Disorder population, preferred. (On Impulse Disorder unit).

Responsibilities

  • Satisfactorily completes all duties/responsibilities of a Residential Care Specialist job description.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Residential Services, identifies problems of time, attendance, and job performance of the RCS staff and assists in the developing plan of action to resolve these completion.
  • Supervises RCS in completion of identified tasks and assumes responsibility for ensuring that completion.
  • Keeps Program Director or RCS-Supervisor apprised of all aspects of RCS performance.
  • Assists in orientation of New RCSs to unit/program philosophy.
  • As delegated by the Program Director, identifies and conducts needed inservices to comply with job tasks and program expectations.
  • Maintains resident assignment and completes tasks as directed by the Director.
  • In conjunction with Program Director, completes and delivers employee performance evaluations and competency assessments.
  • Attends weekly treatment team conferences and provides input as directed by the Director.
  • Under direction of the Program Director, assists in maintaining safe staffing standards within the program.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities in the hospital and in the community.
