About The Position

Synergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate firm, seeks a Residential Building Technician. This individual will be a key member of our maintenance staff working under supervision performing all maintenance duties and responding to work orders, tenant calls and other operational/administrative duties for an Urban-based residential building. Requirements

  • Work experience in building maintenance and operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic controls system, EMS and other building mechanical systems preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Outlook; experience with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems.
  • The candidate must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC or Electrical skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.
  • Schedule and oversee the work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work includes landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.
  • Assists in performing repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Able to troubleshoot appliances, make repairs and replace when necessary.
  • Maintains the building lighting and HVAC systems and ensures Fire Protection systems are operating properly.
  • Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed.
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Participates in off hours on call rotation, performs other duties as assigned.
