About The Position

BestCare Treatment Services is seeking a dependable and compassionate Residential Associate to support clients in our residential treatment program. This role provides direct client support, assists with intakes, maintains a safe and therapeutic treatment milieu, and collaborates closely with the clinical team to ensure high-quality, compliant care. Overnight availability is required for this position. The Residential Associate plays a critical role during overnight hours by ensuring client safety through routine bed checks, maintaining awareness of client locations at all times, supporting documentation requirements, and upholding professional and ethical standards in accordance with BestCare policies and regulatory requirements. JOB SUMMARY: The Residential Associate works with clients and staff at the assigned BestCare residential program to provide support and assistance services, and to advocate for excellent patient care in accordance with BestCare’s policies, and all federal, state, and local regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with the substance-abusing population and people with disabilities
  • For individuals recovering from the disease of addiction, must have maintained continuous recovery for the previous two (2) years at the time of hire
  • CRM-I (if eligible) or THW Certification and PSS certification for Residential Associate I required (CS2 pay grade), or registration for same within 1 week of hire and eligibility/commitment to obtain within six (6) months
  • CRM-II and PSS certification or QMHA-I Certification for Residential Associate II required (to qualify for CS3 pay grade)
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Current Food Handler’s certification or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hiring
  • Must maintain a valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one upon hire, and be insurable under the organization’s auto liability coverage policy (minimum 21 years of age and with no Type A violations in the past 3 years, or three (3) or more Type B violations)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Substance Use, detoxification, co-occurring Mental Health Disorders, and community resources and recovery programs
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build rapport with clients and maintain a positive, professional relationships with program staff, community partners and clients
  • Ability to identify individualized client strengths, needs abilities and preferences, and participate in developing goal-oriented and robust plans with clinical team
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong harm-reduction approach
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence as required by HIPAA, 42 CFR, and Oregon Statutes and BCTS Policies
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain documentation in the EMR program efficiently to administer screening tools, complete the admission process, and document intake details in a timely and concise manner
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully in a diverse, multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as participating as a positive, collaborative team member
  • Ability to function effectively and use good judgment in crisis situations
  • Ability to work with the treatment team to maintain a healthy treatment milieu
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), EHR platform, databases, virtual meeting platforms, internet, and ability to learn new or updated software
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Exhibits critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage conflict resolution and anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately and effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Previous training, knowledge, or experience demonstrating competence in the treatment of the disease of addiction is preferred
  • Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial intakes as requested by Intake Coordinator, in accordance with BestCare’s Client Intake Process, and communicates pertinent details from intake prior to health screening to medical/nursing staff when necessary
  • Collects client information through observation, interviews, and records review in an accurate and timely manner as appropriate to the client’s needs
  • Work closely with other staff as a member of a treatment team
  • Provides appropriate Client Care Interventions, as needed, and communicates the clients’ choices, concerns, and special needs to the other members of the treatment team
  • Maintains cleanliness of all work areas
  • Works with the treatment team to maintain a healthy treatment milieu
  • Ensures the safety of clients by making rounds for bed checks and being aware of client locations at all times
  • Upholds Professional Responsibility and Ethics policies and practices
  • Maintains accurate and confidential documentation in client files
  • Answers phones and completes filing
  • Transports residents to medical appointments, self-help groups, etc.
  • Performs cleaning duties as assigned
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor or Program Manager
